Gardening With Meals In Mind

When planning the garden this season why not think about ethnic cuisine?

Italian – Try easy-to-grow basil, oregano, rosemary and parsley. Then add some Romaine, Bibb and Butter lettuces to the garden and follow that with vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, zucchini, beans and of course, garlic.

French – Make your own herb mix with fresh rosemary, savory, thyme, fennel, basil, and lavender flowers. For a tasty ratatouille grow eggplant, zucchini, onions, peppers and tomatoes. Asian – Herbs such as lemongrass and basil, cilantro and chives are all easy to grow and to add to a stir-fry put in peppers, green onions and Chinese cabbage.

Greek – Oregano is a must. How about some homegrown cucumbers, tomatoes, garlic, parsley, onions, eggplant, peppers, zucchini and potatoes?

Mexican – Cilantro for sure, and how about some hot peppers? Make your own salsa with tomatoes, onions and peppers from the garden. What could be easier than

walking outside and gathering the ingredients for a fresh, gourmet dinner!
