Alberta crops improve with rain

MarketsFarm – Drought conditions that devastated crops in Alberta last year and were poised to do the same this year are becoming something in the past, according to the province’s latest crop report. Recent rainfall has been wiping out any notion of drought in 2022 as soil moisture conditions continued to improve across the province.

Heifer and steer calves were quoted steady to $3 lower on average but the market was harder to define due to limited numbers. EU nudges up soft wheat crop forecast, cuts barley and maize

The European Commission has raised slightly its monthly forecast of usable production of common wheat, or soft wheat, in the European Union in 2022-23, to 130.4 million tonnes from 130.1 million previously, data posted on its website showed. The latest projection was also slightly above production of 130.1 million tonnes in the current 2021-22 season.
