In response to the Manitoba Co-operator article, ‘Rural kids fall short on nutrition,’ I have a few questions for the writers and editors of the May 4 edition:
1. How could anyone describe a meal that includes a modest amount of healthy bread, a proper serving of healthy beef and several fresh vegetables as “junk food?”
2. How could a responsible and aware farm media writer allow her article to appear with such a banner headline?
3. How could an editor of a respected and generally credible farm publication allow that banner and image to appear in their newspaper?
I was shocked and disappointed.
