Saskatchewan mustard crop poised for strong finish

MarketsFarm — Mustard crops in southwestern and south-central Saskatchewan may have received enough rain to turn themselves around after a dry spring. “The area south of Highway 1 saw a lot of rain this year,” said Kevin Hursh, executive director of the Saskatchewan Mustard Development Commission. “They’ve seen a huge turnaround in their crop potentials.”

Cold clouds will usually have a combination of ice crystals and super-cooled water, the first step in the process of creating precipitation in cold clouds.

Why cold clouds are the main source of summer rains

Even in the heat of summer the unique processes of cold clouds are important

If you missed my last article, we looked at how precipitation forms in warm clouds, after all it is the middle of summer. With the warm summer temperatures one might assume that most of our precipitation would come from warm clouds at this time of year, but in reality, most of our summertime precipitation comes

To turn into a raindrop, our little droplet would have to make a lot of collisions, as a typical raindrop is about one million times larger than a typical cloud droplet.

Much of agro-Manitoba has enjoyed its first decent rain since the start of the year. A rain system passed through the province July 8 to 10, with significant rainfall accumulations in many regions. The two regions with highest seasonal accumulations are the southwest and southeast corners of the province. In this storm Waskada saw 17

Chicago | Reuters — Chicago corn futures rose for a second straight day on Tuesday after the U.S. Department of Agriculture said the condition of U.S. crops deteriorated last week following rain, although gains were pared late in the session on improving weather. Soybeans turned lower on forecasts for a window of warmer and drier
