Abook that tells the story of district and extension home economists who served in rural Manitoba over the last century is now available for purchase.

A Time in our Lives – A History of Manitoba Home Economists in Extensiontells stories of a time when home economists contributed much to the future of Manitoba.

The book commemorates the 100th year of a period when home economics and human ecology graduates were dispatched across rural and northern Manitoba to deliver extension programs, working with rural women for the betterment of life in small towns and among farm families.

Last summer, the faculty of human ecology at the University of Manitoba celebrated its 100th anniversary. The book was jointly written by former directors and specialists with the Department of Agriculture.
