Ports Of Churchill, Halifax Working Together

A new agreement between the ports of Churchill and Halifax creates another option for exporting grain from the Prairies. Ever since Churchill started exporting grain in the 1930s, almost all of it sailed directly to the importing country. CWB total export outlook unchanged

The Canadian Wheat Board said Jan. 7 it expects to export 12.7 million tonnes of wheat when the crop year ends July 31, up 12 per cent from the 2007-08 crop year, due to a large harvest. The CWB also expects to export 3.35 million tonnes of durum compared with 3.1 million tonnes last year.
