Canadian and Indian prime ministers Mark Carney and Narendra Modi held on Tuesday what they called a productive first bilateral meeting since then-Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused New Delhi in 2023 of involvement in the killing of a Canadian Sikh separatist.

Damien Kurek has formally resigned his Alberta seat, allowing Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre to run in a byelection expected this summer.

U.S. immigration officials have walked back limits on enforcement targeting farms, restaurants, hotels and food processing plants just days after putting restrictions in place, two former officials familiar with the matter said, an abrupt shift that followed contradictory public statements by President Donald Trump.
