The organizing committee has cancelled the 2022 CropConnect Conference, which had been scheduled for February 15 and 16.

“We were looking forward to reconnecting with everyone, but the health and safety of our attendees and exhibitors are our top priority,” the committee said in a prepared statement.

The organizers said there was no way to host the event, given reduced venue capacities, that was fiscally workable.

Current public health orders stipulate gatherings must not exceed 50 per cent capacity of the venue or 250 people, whichever is smaller.

The event typically attracted large crowds, in recent years to the Victoria Inn in Winnipeg, packing meeting rooms and crowding hallways.

One feature of the annual event has been the annual general meetings of the organizing groups. They’re now shifting to virtual events at the following times:

  • Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers — Feb. 16, 9 a.m.
  • Manitoba Oat Growers — Feb. 16, 1 p.m.
  • Manitoba Canola Growers — Feb. 17, 9 a.m.
  • Manitoba Crop Alliance — Feb. 17, 1 p.m.

More information on the meetings and registration information is available through the individual groups.
