Dec 6 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn rose in parts of
the U.S. Midwest interior Friday on strong demand from
processors including ethanol makers as wintry weather slowed the
movement of grain, dealers said.
* The corn basis firmed for a third straight day at Blair,
Nebraska, site of an ethanol plant. An elevator at Council
Bluffs, Iowa, raised its corn bid by 3 cents.
* Soybean bids were mostly steady but the basis fell 2 cents
at Davenport, Iowa, on the Mississippi River, as the barge
season ended on that stretch of the river. Shippers are moving

barges farther downstream for the winter.
* Cold temperatures, snow and ice forecast for portions of
the U.S. Plains and southern Midwest into the weekend threaten
some winter wheat and livestock, but the biggest issue may be
logistical snarls, meteorologists said.
* A mixture of rain, sleet, ice and snow fell across the
southern Plains, including Texas, and extended into the northern
U.S. Delta and southeast Midwest.
* At the CBOT, March corn rose 3/4 cent at $4.34-1/4 a
bushel on short-covering and a slow pace of farmer sales.
* CBOT January soybeans fell 2-1/2 cents at $13.25-1/2
a bushel on expectations for a large soy harvest in South
America, but losses were limited by strength in soymeal.
* CBOT March wheat fell 1 cent at $6.51 a bushel on
technical selling.
