Dec 24 (Reuters) - Cash basis bids for corn and soybeans
were largely unchanged across the U.S. Midwest on Tuesday in
slow trading ahead of Wednesday's Christmas holiday, dealers
said.
* Corn bids gained 3 cents per bushel at a closely watched
processor and ethanol plant in Blair, Nebraska, following higher
bids earlier this week at other major corn crushing facilities
amid strong profit margins and slow farmer sales.
* But bids were flat elsewhere with some elevators already
closed down in observance of the holiday.
* Soybean futures gained by as much 5 cents while corn

futures climbed 3/4 cent, rising for the fourth straight
session, on support from dry growing conditions in Argentina.
* But the higher futures failed to entice much farmer
selling as growers deferred sales until the new tax year and
held out for potentially higher prices in 2014.
* Private exporters reported the sale of 185,000 tonnes of
U.S. soybeans to unknown destinations, including 65,000 tonnes
for delivery in the 2013/14 marketing year and 120,000 tonnes
for delivery in the 2014/15 marketing year, the U.S. Agriculture
Department said.
