Food Matters Manitoba has launched its first-ever cooking competition open to all high school students. Teams of students across Manitoba in Grades 9-12 are encouraged to enter a local food recipe they’ve created themselves which represents a yummy, healthy dish that also reflects the kinds of seasonal foods available in mid-winter in Manitoba.
The winning entries to the Localvore Iron Chef Cook-Off will be presented at the 2011 Getting Vocal, Growing Local Food Security Conference in Winnipeg in February 25-26. Howitworks:
Design a healthy recipe that uses three made-in- Manitoba main ingredients.
Enter it with an application form in the cook-off by Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010.
If you’re selected as a finalist for the cook-off on Feb. 5, 2011, you’ll be matched up with a professional chef for guidance on perfecting and presenting your recipe.
