Canola demand has softened with supply issues being worked out as of the end of May, but dry fields in western Canada are also pulling the canola futures market the other way.

Canola futures prices have just about recovered from the decline caused by the imposition of Chinese tariffs on canola meal and oil. Canola products sales to the U.S. continue without any tariffs.

Canola futures are expected to climb higher on the Intercontinental Exchange in the coming weeks, commented Phil Speiss, trader with RBC Dominion Securities in Winnipeg. How quickly that happens is dependent on whether demand rationing kicks in or not.
