A 66-year-old man from central Manitoba was sent to hospital Nov. 11 after being accidentally shot by hunters.
According to a police media release Nov. 12, Treherne RCMP were called to a rural residence on Road 53 North in the RM of Victoria around 10:45 a.m. after getting a report of a man suffering a gunshot wound.
He was taken to hospital in stable condition and released the same day.
Police were told that the man had been outside his residence, when he was hit in the arm. The round was shot by three nearby teenage hunters, according to RCMP.
The teens — one 14-year-old female and two males, aged 16 and 17, respectively —were in a field when police arrived. RCMP approached and arrested all three. The teenagers were later charged with careless use of a firearm, discharge of a firearm while being reckless and assault with a weapon. The 16-year-old male also faces a charge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.
