Indigenous Producers in agriculture are sharing their experiences in the Indigenous Producer Panel at Ag in Motion from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16.
Visitors attending the farm show are encouraged to attend the panel event, held in the Special Events Tent on 6th Street between Saskatchewan and Alberta Drives.
The Indigenous Producer Panel is the culmination of a day of special events as part of the Indigenous Ag Program and VIP Tour, supported by FCC and Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority (SREDA).

Mazergroup’s Bob Mazer dies
Mazergroup’s Bob Mazer, who helped grow his family’s company into a string of farm equipment dealerships and the main dealer for New Holland machinery in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, died July 6 from cancer.
“This event is important because it is creating a welcoming space for Indigenous people and Indigenous Allies to come together to celebrate agriculture, learn more about the industry and connect with each other,” says Tatum Claypool, senior relationship manager, Indigenous financing at FCC. “We want to illuminate Indigenous agriculture to Ag in Motion visitors and help renew and create relationships between everyone in the agriculture industry.”
A teepee located at one Ag in Motion welcome gate will be part of the celebrations. Claypool says that she hopes Ag in Motion guests will take time to reflect on the teepee as more than a stereotypical image representing all things Prairie Indigenous, but rather as a home for millions of people over the years that is woven with ceremony, protocol and tradition. She notes it is also important to remember that Indigenous people across Canada did not all use teepees as dwellings.
It is Claypool’s hope that once visitors see the teepee at Ag in Motion or attend the Indigenous Producer Panel, they will take the next step to learn more about Indigenous people across Canada.
