The deadline to register for one of Manitoba’s biggest crop production events is fast approaching.
Organizers extended registration for CropConnect to Feb. 3, an extra week from the original Jan. 27 deadline, organizer Morgan Cott told the Co-operator.
CropConnect, held in Winnipeg Feb. 15 and 16, brings together a tradeshow, presentations on agronomy and farm management, keynote speakers, and commodity group annual general meetings.

AGMs are free to attend. While virtual options are available, Cott encouraged farmers to come in person.
“It’s nice to have those in person,” she said.
This years’ keynote presenters include Romeo Dallaire, a retired general and senator; leadership and crisis management expert; and author of Shake Hands with the Devil, in which he chronicled his experience as a UN peacekeeper during the Rwandan genocide.

Also speaking is Samantha Nutt, founder of War Child, an organization that works to protect children from the impacts of war. She is also a public health specialist.
On the evening of Feb. 15, actor and comedian Brent Butt—perhaps best known for his role on TV show “Corner Gas”—will provide the evening’s entertainment.
Other speakers will cover topics like soybean cyst nematode, harnessing the power of RNA to protect canola from fungal disease, HR strategies for farm businesses, “1,000 years of Prairie Climate and the next 80 years,” and many others.
The Manitoba Pulse and Soybean growers have their AGMs on Feb. 15. The Manitoba Canola Growers and Manitoba Crop Alliance AGMs are Feb. 16.
