A community testing site for COVID-19 will open in Winkler March 25.
The drive-through testing location will be at the Winkler Centennial Arena, 600 Park Street and will be open daily from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M.
This is the twelfth testing site to open in the province. Tests are only by referral.
Due to a worldwide shortage of the reagent used in lab testing, widespread testing isn’t possible, said Dr. Brent Roussin, Manitoba’s chief provincial public safety officer in a news conference March 24.
The provincial laboratory is working on a solution and hopes to increase its capacity soon, Roussin added, though he indicated tests would be limited to priority cases for the forseeable future.
There are four confirmed cases of the virus outside of Winnipeg—two in the Southern Health region, and two in the Interlake-Eastern health region. None of these patients are hospitalized as of March 24.
