A new online “Resource Centre” including a user guide, templates and tools for information upload, frequently asked questions (FAQs), software resources and feedback channels is the latest feature of the Canadian Cattle Identification Agency website.
The Resource Centre is much like a roadmap to the CCIA’s Canadian Livestock Tracking System, or CLTS, CCIA chairman Darcy Eddleston said in a release Tuesday.

The Resource Centre also includes a one- to five-star rating system for articles and information provided on the site. For each section of the site, users are able to vote once on how useful they found that section.
“We want people to share their ideas and let us know how valuable the information we provide can be,” said Eddleston, a Paradise Valley, Alta. producer.
The new site also offers PDF-formatted documents for easy download or to save on one’s own system, the agency said.
Going mobile
The CCIA also recently launched a mobile version of the CLTS, dubbed CLTS MOBO, to provide producers with a method of accessing their CLTS accounts while away from home.
“As a producer, there are times it would be handy to access data in the CLTS, but a computer is not available,” Eddleston said Aug. 26. “This feature will enable producers to pull up information whether they’re in the field, at the auction mart, or in the veterinarian’s office.”
Producers using CLTS MOBO can access and pull up account information such as tag numbers, transaction numbers, animal information, premises information or birth certificates, the CCIA said.
Currently, iPhones and other smartphones that run Android 1.6 or higher support the CLTS MOBO application; the CCIA said it’s “reviewing BlackBerry compatibility for the future.”
Users can download and install CLTS MOBO from the iPhone App Store or the Android Market, the agency said.
