The marketing chief for the Canadian wing of ag retail firm UAP is taking over the Canadian operations of another U.S. ag firm.

Garth Render, who’s been based in Winnipeg for UAP and also served as the Saskatchewan council chairman for ag chem industry group CropLife Canada, has been named general manager for Gowan Canada, effective Monday (Oct. 18).

“We are very happy to have Garth on our team and leading our Canadian business,” Arizona-based Gowan Group’s chief operating officer Cindy Baker Smith said in a release Thursday.

“Garth brings tremendous knowledge of the Canadian crop protection market, an outstanding reputation and relationships with the key decision makers in Canada.”

Render, in his new post, is expected to take the lead in development, marketing and sales of Gowan products to “further the company’s success in the crop protection marketplace.”

Gowan’s portfolio of chemical brands in Canada includes herbicides Fortress and Avadex, insecticides Imidan, Confirm and Carzol and fungicides Gavel and Botran.
