Manitoba's cattle market stayed strong during the week ended Oct. 24. Every location reported at least 1,100 head sold at regular weekly sales, for a grand total of 15,055.

ICE canola weekly outlook: Weak soybeans a “problem”

The ICE Futures canola market backed away from nearby highs during the week ended Oct. 16, as losses in Chicago soybeans and soyoil weighed on values. With the canola harvest in its final stages across Western Canada, the market will likely settle in a sideways range while looking to outside influences for direction.

Prices remain strong as calves enter the market

Cattle prices at Manitoba auction sites for the week ended Oct. 3 remained strong as warmer temperatures allowed cattle to stay on pasture for a little while longer. Producers are expected to begin selling calves in the next week or two.
