Agronomists attending Manitoba Ag Days and wanting to cross off some of their certified crop advisor credits will be able to hit two birds with one stone later this month.

The 2025 show, which returns to Brandon’s Keystone Centre from Jan. 21 to 23, will have 33.5 CEU credits up for grabs over the three-day event.

Why it matters: Among the new technology highlights, expert panels and agricultural news announcements, crop advisors will be able to pick up some professional development credits at Manitoba Ag Days 2025.

Manitoba farm profits under pressure

Manitoba farmers are facing down a double hit of high input costs, like fertilizer, and low grain prices as they harvest their next crop.

The credits will be offered across five different streams, including nutrient management (2.5 CEU), soil and water management (one CEU), integrated pest management (seven CEU), crop management (six CEU) and professional development (17 CEU).

Credits are derived from this year’s speaker lineup.

Teresa Hildebrand, show media co-ordinator, said offering sessions which provide certified crop advisor credits is an important feature of the event.

“We believe that offering the complimentary speaker lineup supports agriculture both in the stream of credit availability and the farmers who are not necessarily seeking credits. But in both cases, it gets current information out into the community for this growing season. These credits reflect the most current information we have,” she said.

“We also think it’s important to learn from each other about things that are working and not working, or what is working in different locations.”

Having an extensive list of speakers allows the schedule to include a bit of something for everybody, she added.

Partnerships with industry groups like the Manitoba Canola Growers Association, Manitoba Crop Alliance and Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers provide even more value to the speaker lineup, she noted.

Staff and researchers associated with those groups commonly take the stage at the event to share the latest local research or knowledge on best practices.

The speaker session schedule also features a theme of Prairie entrepreneurship on the afternoon of Wednesday, Jan. 22, and specific focus on livestock on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 23.

“We have over 60 speakers this year, and we’re very proud of the complimentary speaker lineup… Speakers will be talking about the challenges from the 2024 growing season and how we can plan for those going into 2025. So it is really timely information for our farmers to have,” Hildebrand said.

Tickets for the show are available in advance at www.agdays.com.
