Niagara College has a new, free, option for farmers to turn their farm data into something usable for farm decisions.

Sarah Lepp, senior research associate with Niagara College Research and Innovation, demonstrated their Crop Portal to this year’s Ag Days audience, using real farm data.

The program processes and visualizes data ranging from yield to elevation mapping, soil test results, input rates, and other farm-related data. Field maps and numbers can then be compared to determine patterns, which producers may then use to make management decisions.

The web-based software is now open for farmers, consultants and researchers.

Watch out for more stories on data analysis and the farmer, featuring Lepp, in a future edition of the Manitoba Co-operator.
