Organizers say the full parking lots at the Keystone Centre last week were proof the show was back with a bang.

Manitoba Ag Days 2023 was a hub of positive energy, say organizers.

“We are thrilled with the success of the 2023 show,” said Ag Days general manager Kristen Phillips in a Jan. 19 news release.

The event ran Jan. 17-19 at Brandon’s Keystone Centre.

Manitoba farmers wary of research hit after AAFC cuts

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada cuts claim Portage la Prairie research farm; Manitoba farms groups wrestle with potential impact.

“Agriculture is a business of handshakes and we try to create a welcoming environment where farmers can come together to do business, face-to-face, with ag manufacturers, companies and retailers,” said Phillips.

A tally of tickets sold wasn’t available at time of writing Jan. 20, but media coordinator Theresa Vallotton told the Co-operator that it appeared Tuesday’s attendance was above average, Wednesday’s showing was “amazing” and Thursday saw an average turnout.

The 50/50 draw had a record-breaking total of just under $70,000, Vallotton said. Tickets sold out Thursday night. Last year’s virtual event saw a 50/50 total of about $24,000.

The winning ticket had yet to be declared at time of writing, but was set to be drawn via Facebook Live. The proceeds will go to community projects and services through the Ag Days Gives Back Fund, the news release said.

Organizers thanked exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers, Keystone Centre staff and the City of Brandon for making the show a success. The next Manitoba Ag Days is scheduled Jan. 16-18, 2024.
