Eger to head CropLife Canada board

Longtime agriculture industry leader will develop group’s next strategic plan

Bryce Eger is the new board chair for CropLife Canada, the national trade association representing the manufacturers, developers and distributors of pest control and life science products.

The appointment was announced during the group’s annual general meeting. Eger is president of Corteva Agriscience Canada and he takes over the role from Al Driver, country division head for Bayer CropScience. Driver is a long-standing member of the CropLife Canada board of directors and held the chairman’s role for more than three years. Driver will continue to serve on the board as past president.

Eger brings extensive leadership experience in the industry, which the association said will help the group chart its future path.

“The agriculture industry has endured a tremendous amount over the last few years between the challenges associated with the pandemic and some extreme weather conditions,” Eger said in a media release. “But agriculture has also captured the attention of government and the public like never before. We delivered in a time of crisis and agriculture has been widely recognized for its ability to contribute to Canada’s economy.”

CropLife Canada is coming to the end of its current strategic plan and will be embarking on a new strategic plan in the summer of 2022 that will lead the association through the next three years.

CropLife Canada president and CEO Pierre Petelle agreed the group will play an important role in advocating for the agriculture sector.

“We are committed to continuing to advocate for science-based regulations for pesticides and products of plant-breeding innovations both here at home and around the world,” says Petelle.
