Manitoba Ag Days is providing funds for a public health upgrade at its home facility.
It is buying five new automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for the Keystone Centre in Brandon, by way of the Ag Days Gives Back program.
Keystone Centre management described the devices at an “absolute necessity,” in a media release announcing the purchase.

“The Keystone Centre is extremely grateful to Manitoba Ag Days for their generous sponsorship of these life-saving devices,” said Connie Lawrence, assistant general manager of the Keystone Centre.
She added that up-to-date first aid equipment is a vital component of holding world class events at the facility, which bring “… thousands of people with diverse circumstances to the Keystone Centre.”
Kristen Phillips, Ag Days general manager, said it was “an easy decision” to partner with the Keystone Centre to provide the upgrades to the facility that hosts their annual show every January.
“The AEDs in the building were about to expire, and Manitoba Ag Days wanted to make sure that the complex was safe not only for our exhibitors, patrons, and guests, but for all users of this amazing complex,” Phillips added.
Ag Days Gives Back is funded from ticket sales and the yearly 50/50 draw, said Hannah Minshull, chair of the Ag Days Gives Back committee.
“Our theme for the 2023 show was farmer safety, health and wellness,” Minshull said. “Supporting the upgrades to the AEDs in the Keystone Centre was a natural fit for the proceeds of this years’ show.”
Manitoba Ag Days will return to the Keystone Centre January 16 to 18, 2024.
