Manitoba Ag Days has officially been cancelled for 2022.

The event had been scheduled for Jan. 18 to 20, until it was derailed by Manitoba public health orders issued Dec. 27 that would have capped attendance at 250.

In a Dec. 28 announcement organizers postponed the event until an undetermined later date.

Mazergroup’s Bob Mazer dies

Mazergroup’s Bob Mazer, who helped grow his family’s company into a string of farm equipment dealerships and the main dealer for New Holland machinery in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, died July 6 from cancer.

Now organizers say the extended health orders that are set to run until at least Feb. 1 are making rescheduling difficult and “limiting options” the group said in the release. The announcement also noted they’d been in “constant communication” with health officials including the office of the provincial health minister, and have been told it’s not possible to predict when restrictions might end.

“With the uncertainty of the reopening plan in Manitoba and given the current state of the pandemic we have no option but to cancel our show in 2022,” the most recent media announcement from Ag Days organizers reads.

Pushing the event to February or March would have meant the cancellation of events that are already scheduled and can go ahead within the current restrictions.

“Manitoba Ag Days is committed to working with the industry and so we hope these events will continue to be able to move forward,” organizers said.

Ag Days organizers say their attention will now turn to the next show, set for Jan. 17 to 19, 2023.
