Glacier FarmMedia – Canola futures on the Intercontinental Exchange were mostly higher on Thursday morning, underpinned by gains in the Chicago soy complex and MATIF rapeseed.

Declines in Malaysian palm oil tempered the upswing in canola, while lower crude oil weighed on the vegetable oils.

The May canola contract remained well above its major moving averages. Canola crush margins continued higher, with the May position adding about C$5.70 at more than C$259 per tonne above the futures.

A week today Statistics Canada will release its planted acre projections for 2026/27. However, the farmer surveys for the report were completed well before Canada and China reached their tariff agreement. Canola acres may prove to be larger than anticipated.
