WINNIPEG, July 22 (MarketsFarm) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Canadian wholesale trade dropped 1.8 per cent in May, according to a report Statistics Canada released on Monday. The drop was the first decline in five months and due to fewer motor vehicle and auto parts sales.

– In the latest turn in the Middle East crisis, Iran stated on Monday that its authorities arrested 17 people suspected of being spies for the United States Central Intelligence Agency, of which some were sentenced to death. The U.S. dismissed the claim as “totally false.”

– India launched Chandrayaan-2, the country’s second mission to the Moon, earlier Monday. Unlike the previous mission, which sent a probe that orbited the Moon, India will land a rover at the Moon’s South Pole to test for the presence of water.
