WINNIPEG, February 10 – The following is a glance at the news moving markets globally.
– The three main indexes at Wall Street hit record highs on Thursday, underpinned by the expectation for a coming tax announcement, expected within two or three weeks, from US President Donald Trump.
Nasdaq Composite, S&P 500 Index and Dow Industrials all advanced, as Trump said he would be making a “phenomenal” announcement.
– Canada’s employment rose by 48,000, up 0.3 per cent, in January, building on gains observed in the latter part of 2016. The unemployment rate fell by 0.1 percentage points to 6.8 per cent, Statistics Canada said in a report on Friday.
