Global Markets: Sunwing suspends Max 8 flights

WINNIPEG, March 13 (MarketsFarm) – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

– Sunwing became the first Canadian airline to suspend flights using the Boeing 737 Max 8. Late Tuesday, Sunwing cited “evolving commercial reasons” as the number of countries prohibiting Max 8’s over their national airspace has continued to grow. This now includes the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Ireland. Two Max 8’s crashed shortly after take-off, one in October over the Java Sea and on March 10 in Ethiopia. On both flights everyone onboard was killed.

– Members of Parliament in the United Kingdom House of Commons will vote on a motion Wednesday on the U.K. leaving the European Union without an agreement. – Many people, including children, were feared trapped in a building that collapsed in Lagos, Nigeria on Wednesday. The three-story building included a private school. This has been the fourth collapse of a major building in Lagos since 2016, according to reports.
