WINNIPEG, Dec. 28, 2017 (CNS) – The following is a glance at the
news moving markets in Canada and globally.
The Alberta government has charged Nexen Energy with eight
charges, after two workers died in an explosion at its Long Lake
oil sands plant in early 2016. The charges were laid Dec. 19
under the province’s Occupational Health and Safety Act. Each
count carried a fine of up to C$500,000 and/or up to two years

One man died at the scene and the other died in hospital several
days later.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 is not charging according to
customers. The issue seems to come after the phone battery is
fully drained to zero per cent and shuts down. When customers
try to charge the phone again, it doesn’t charge at all. Samsung
employees in help forums appear to be offering repairs and
replacements for customers. The Galaxy Note 8 is the follow-up
to the Galaxy Note 7, which Samsung was forced to stop making
after customers complained about the device overheating and even
exploding.
European plane maker Airbus sealed a formal order Thursday
from AerCap for 50 Airbus A320neo plants, in a deal worth an
estimated US$5.4 billion at list prices. The companies said in
joint statements AerCap had exercised an option to buy the 50
planes, with deliveries starting in 2022.
