Glacier FarmMedia | MarketsFarm – The following is a glance at the news moving markets in Canada and globally.

  • At least 19 people are dead after Russia bombarded Ukraine with about 520 drones and missiles overnight Tuesday. Dozens more people were wounded as the barrage struck Ternopil in the western part of the country. Given the proximity of the attacks, Poland scrambled its air defenses and closed the airports in Rzeszow and Lublin.
  • The U.S. Senate unanimously passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act on Tuesday. This came after the House of Representatives approved the bill 427 to 1. President Donald Trump said he will sign the legislation when he receives it. This would mark a dramatic turnaround for Trump, who sought to keep secret a potential list of high profile clients of deceased sex-trafficker Jeffery Epstein.
  • Inflation in the United Kingdom fell to 3.6 per in October, down 0.2 of a point from September, the Office for National Statistics reported on Wednesday. Despite the overall decline, food prices in the U.K. increased 0.4 of a point at 4.9 per cent last month. Analysts expect the report likely results in the Bank of England cutting its key interest rate next month by a quarter point at 3.75 per cent.
