WINNIPEG, February 15 – The following is a glance at the news moving markets globally.
– US retail sales outpaced analyst expectations, according to reports out of the country on Wednesday.
January’s sales advanced 0.4 per cent, while December’s sales were revised up to one per cent.
– Canadian manufacturing sales increased for the second consecutive month, up 2.3 per cent to C$53.5 billion in December, following a revised increase of 2.3 per cent in November. The growth was mainly the result of higher sales of transportation equipment, as well as petroleum and coal products, Statistics Canada said in a report on Wednesday.
