Winnipeg, Dec. 7 (CNS) – Following are a few highlights in
the Canadian and world feed grains markets for Thursday, Dec. 7.
Corn farmers in Nebraska are facing losing tens of
thousands of dollars of corn due to one of the worse cases of
ear drop in recent years, according the Lincoln Journal Star.
The growing season started out good then turned bad, producing
big-kernelled ears of corn with weak stocks. Strong winds than
came through and caused the corn ears to drop to the ground.

The European Union association of trade in cereals, rice,
feedstuffs, oilseeds, olive oil, oils and fats and agro supply,
COCERAL, has released its total grain production estimates for
the EU for the year. COCERAL estimates there was 58.4 million
tonnes of barley grown in the EU this year, while corn harvests
took place later in the year meaning there was only 61.4 million
tonnes produced.
Feed barley bids in Western Canada are holding steady,
according to the latest information from the Prairie Ag Hotwire.
Feed barley bids in Saskatchewan are listed at C$3.50 to C$3.75
C$3.55 and in Alberta are listed at C$3.50 to C$4.68 per bushel.
Feed wheat bids in Western Canada as well are holding
steady, according to the Prairie Ag Hotwire. Feed wheat in
Saskatchewan is listed at C$3.90 to C$5.00 per bushel and in
Alberta at C$4.57 to C$6.12.
