Winnipeg, Jan. 16 (CNS) – Following are a few highlights in
the Canadian and world feed grains markets for Tuesday, Jan. 16.
Despite large corn stocks around the world Manitoba farmers
are faring well due to good yields. Manitoba’s average yield
last year was 134 bushels an acre. Alberta feedlots are buying
Manitoba corn, as corn prices are competing more favourably with
feed wheat and barley prices, at between C$4 to $4.30 per
bushel.

barley, two-row spring and six-row winter, which makes it a
unique market to buy from. Two-row has a high fibre reasonable
protein low, while six-row has a moisture content which averages
four per cent below barley from the northern hemisphere.
Feed grain prices in key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge
increased during the week ended Jan. 12, according to
information from the Alberta provincial government. Feed wheat
is sitting at C$221 to C$225 per tonne and feed barley is at
C$220 to C$225.
