Loewen Manufacturing, a Altona, Man. maker of parts for the North American and European combine aftermarket, has been sold to an Iowa parts company.

A&I Products of Rock Valley, Iowa, bought Loewen for an undisclosed sum. The U.S. company said in a release Friday that the deal will allow dealerships and repair shops worldwide to benefit from an all-in-one purchasing system through the A&I web site.

A&I said its parts picking and inventory system will now allow next-day parts delivery of in-stock items to over 85 per cent of its U.S. and Canadian customers. It expected to have Loewen’s complete product line integrated into its warehousing and catalogue system by December.

With a catalogue of over 55,000 parts, A&I operates four parts plants and 12 parts warehouses across the U.S., employing 270. Loewen, established at Altona in 1959, produces a greater range of parts for more makes and models of combines than any other player in the industry, and employs 65, A&I said.
