Mostly familiar faces are back at the board tables of Saskatchewan’s canola and mustard growers’ groups for the coming year.
Meeting during Crop Production Week in Saskatoon, the Saskatchewan Canola Development Commission named its previous vice-chairman, Kelvin Meadows of Moose Jaw, as chairman of the commission. Meadows replaces Tisdale farmer Jim Caughlin, who remains as a director.
Wayne Bacon of Kinistino, who was re-elected to the board for another three-year director’s term, is now also vice-chairman. Director John Serhienko of Blaine Lake is the new treasurer, the group said in a release Monday.

Farmer Joan Heath of Borden, northwest of Saskatoon, was elected to the remaining SCDC director’s spot for a three-year term. Heath, who previously worked as the commission’s communications officer, defeated Roger Elchuk of Shipman in the commission’s elections.
Mustard
The Saskatchewan Mustard Development Commission, meanwhile, held its meeting Jan. 10 in Saskatoon and re-elected its chairman, Baine Fritzler of Govan (north of Regina) for a one-year term, the group announced Thursday.
Director Rene deMoissac of Biggar was elected vice-chair, replacing Tom Burwell, who remains as a director. David Pederson of Hawarden was acclaimed for another three-year term on the board and also returns as treasurer.
New to the board of directors is Patrick Ackerman, who farms at Chamberlain, north of Moose Jaw. He was appointed for a one-year term, replacing outgoing director Brett Meinert of Shaunavon.
