With their application forms now available for the provincial Risk Management Program, Ontario grain and oilseed growers have until Sept. 15 to apply.
Agricorp, the province’s farm program delivery agency, announced Tuesday that crop producers may now get and submit their forms through the agency’s website.
Producers who were in the 2010 RMP grains and oilseeds pilot extension, and those who have grain and oilseed crops covered by Production Insurance, will automatically get their participant packages by mail, Agricorp said.

Prairie Wheat Weekly: Cash prices mostly higher
Western Canadian cash prices for spring wheat were mostly higher and those for durum were a pinch lower for the week ended Feb. 17. A firmer tone United States wheat complex offered support, as did the Canadian dollar which lost six-tenths of a cent on the week.
The province announced in June that because 2011 will be the “transition year” to the new permanent RMP, past participation in an Agricorp program is not a requirement for enrollment this year.
Also for 2011 only, premiums are waived and all participants are enrolled at the 100 per cent coverage level, Agricorp reiterated Tuesday.
RMP plans for other ag sectors including cattle, edible horticulture, hogs, sheep and veal are to be rolled out over the next few months, Agricorp added.
A schedule of upcoming information sessions on the RMPs is also available online. “Plan-specific” information on the program will be provided at those sessions by RMP experts from the provincial ag department and Agricorp, the agency said.
