A new organization offering technical support to Quebec’s cheesemakers will get provincial start-up funding worth $300,000 over two years.
The Centre d’expertise fromagere du Quebec is meant to offer technical support to cheesemakers both in production and in business management.
The creation of the centre is expected to help the province’s artisanal cheesemakers continue their work in improving the quality of their cheese, associate deputy agriculture minister Dominique Fortin said in a release Monday announcing the funding.
The centre, Fortin said, is also expected to benefit cheese industry professionals who will be able to use it to set up networks for research and development.
