Kyiv | Reuters — Ukraine’s combined grain and oilseed harvest could increase to 80 million metric tons in 2025 from 76 million tons in 2024, farm minister Vitaliy Koval was quoted on Thursday as saying.
Ukraine is a major global grain and oilseed grower but its output fell sharply after the Russian invasion in 2022.
“This year, farmers have planted more winter wheat – 4.5 million hectares. We also expect a bigger corn harvest,” Koval told Forbes-Ukraine.
He gave no more details.
The ministry earlier this month said it expected that the 2025 planted area could be at the same level as in 2024 at around 23 million hectares (56.8 million acres), including 11.067 million hectares (27.35 million acres) of grain and 8.892 million hectares (21.97 million acres) of oilseeds.
