A treatment against powdery mildew in various fruit and vegetable crops can now be used against the same disease on hothouse bedding plants and lettuce.
BASF Canada has picked up the expanded registration for its water-dispersible granular fungicide Pristine, which combines active ingredients pyraclostrobin (Group 11) and boscalid (Group 7).
The approvals cover Pristine for use on greenhouse bedding plants for control of powdery mildew and on greenhouse lettuce for suppression of powdery mildew.
The new approvals also allow Pristine’s use against apple scab in crabapple, pear-trellis rust in ornamental pear and gymnosporangium rust in serviceberry.
The product is for preventive use, to be applied before disease symptoms appear, BASF Canada said in a release Friday.
The Mississauga-based company credited government, growers and researcher support for the additional registrations, hailing “multiple stakeholder co-operation” for the minor-use approvals.
