Farm Business Communications’ ventures in cyberspace have earned national honours for the Winnipeg farm publishing house at the Canadian Online Publishing Awards.

The awards, presented Thursday in Toronto in an event organized by Canadian media magazine Masthead, go to websites in three divisions: Blue (scholarly, farm, business-to-business), Red (consumer) and Green (news media).

Four of Farm Business Communications’ online titles — Grainews.ca, WeatherFarm, AGCanada.com and Alberta Farmer Mobile — were announced in September as finalists in the Blue division.

Alberta Farmer Mobile, the mobile app for Alberta Farmer Express, won gold Thursday in the Best Mobile Solution category, in which it was the only finalist.

WeatherFarm was one of three finalists in the corporate website category. Gold in the same category went to Montreal-based media and marketing website Sparksheet.

AGCanada.com, another Farm Business Communications site, was one of five finalists in the Blue division for Best News Coverage. Gold and silver in that category went to ITBusiness.ca and University Affairs magazine.
