This week’s Canadian Wheat Board bulletin reports that 2008-09 malting barley  CashPlus participants will receive an additional payment of $12.89 per tonne. CashPlus is a cash-buying program that offers farmers an up-front, market-based cash price. The additional payment is derived from any market spreads between the up-front guaranteed cash price and actual CWB sales returns for malting barley, minus costs. Additional payments will be sent to farmers following the distribution of final payments.

The CWB also reported that 2008-09 CWB organic cash marketing participants will receive an additional payment of $1.70 per tonne.

The CWB is offering a program to improve returns for Canada Western Red Spring (CWRS) wheat that contains fusarium. Signup is underway on a first-come, first-served basis until Dec. 18 or until the program is filled. Producers can sign up by calling the CWB at 1-800-275-4292 with their CWB identification number and personal identification number.
