Grasshoppers are farthest ahead in development in Alberta and “already on the move” in the province’s dry Peace region, according to reports in Friday’s CropWatch.

Also in Friday’s reports:

Flea beetles have crossed the threshold for spraying in the southern Peace, while cutworms have been found in some hay and canola fields, according to the Prairie Pest Monitoring Network;

Crops that have been slow to develop in cool, wet conditions across much of Manitoba may be susceptible to cutworm, wireworm and other pests; and

Property owners near lakes and rivers in B.C.’s south Okanagan region are being advised to take further precautionary measures, as water levels continue to rise in the Okanagan and Osoyoos lakes.

Keep us posted on crop progress, unusual weather or pest problems in your area, as well as any questions you may have about a particular problem in the fields.
