The RCMP and Traffic Safety Board are investigating a fatal plane crash in south-western Manitoba.
Yesterday evening members of the Killarney RCMP detachment were called to a plane crash near the village of Elgin, approximately 55 kilometres south-west of the city of Brandon.
A local resident had noticed smoke and gone to investigate and discovered the plane crash. The plane was completely destroyed by fire, claiming the life of the pilot.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this time. The commercial pilot, who had flown out of his yard at about 6:40 p.m., was applying a chemical to crops in the area.
The identity of the pilot, although suspected, remains to be confirmed. As such, his identity will not being released at this time.
RCMP and Traffic Safety Board are at the scene and the investigation continues.
