Canada’s national cattle identification agency plans to expand the hours of operation for its call centre and expand its website to include publications en francais.

Starting Jan. 4, the Canadian Cattle Identification Agency’s (CCIA) call centre will operate from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. MST at 1-877-909-2333 (BEEF).

The CCIA website will also feature “numerous” upgrades, including both French and English messaging for its web content and electronic versions of current print publications.

The site has also been enhanced to enable users with dial-up connections to access its content “in a time-efficient manner,” the agency said.

“In an ongoing effort to improve our services, we have made the first of many changes to support the various needs of our stakeholders across Canada,” CCIA executive director Kerry St. Cyr said in a release Wednesday.

The CCIA, operating since 2002, now manages national standards for individual animal identification in the cattle industry, including premises ID, lot identification, tracking of animals’ movement and record-keeping tools such as age verification.
