Canadian Financial Close: C$ steady, TSX stops early

WINNIPEG, April 27 (CNS Canada) – The Canadian dollar held steady on Friday, lacking any clear direction.
The Canadian dollar closed at US$0.7778 or US$1=C$1.2857, which compares with Thursday’s close of US$0.7775, or US$1=C$1.2862.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index was forced to close early on Friday due to technical difficulties at the TMX Group. Details were unavailable on the cause of the technical issues. Before the sudden closure, the index was up 31.34 points at 15,668.93.

Canada’s agricultural sector faired as follows:

Buhler Industries————up $ 0.10 at $ 4.10
Maple Leaf Foods————-dn $ 0.20 at $ 31.55
Nutrien Ltd.—————–dn $ 0.59 at $ 59.43
