WINNIPEG, Oct. 2 (MarketsFarm) The Canadian dollar was weaker Wednesday morning, as a firmer tone in the United States dollar weighed on the currency.
At 9:24 CDT Wednesday morning the Canadian dollar was at US$0.7532 or C$1.3277 which compares with Tuesday’s North American close of US$0.7551 or C$1.3244.
Weakness in most outside global equity markets also weighed on the Canadian dollar, as investors looked to reduce their risk.
Gold was up on the day, but crude oil was slightly lower. The losses in crude oil came despite tighter U.S. inventories.
The TSX was weaker Wednesday morning, down 144.82 points at 9:24 CDT to sit at 16,302.84.
