Presidio Fungicide, from Valent Canada, Inc., is now registered for use in Canada on brassicas, brassica root vegetables, cucurbits such as pumpkins and cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, grapes, leafy vegetables and potatoes.
Presidio is a targeted chemistry for growers with crops threatened by downy mildews. In vegetables, including potatoes, Presidio also controls late blight (Phytophthora infestans), and root, crown and fruit rots caused by Phytophthora capsici.
Presidio’s fast-acting chemistry has a novel mode of action and is in a new chemical class. Presidio protects crops with preventive control and some curative reach-back action, the company says in a release.

Presidio has no known tank-mix limitations with other fungicides or insecticides. It can be soil applied or used as a foliar treatment, depending on the crop.
Finding a match
An Australian entrepreneur has set up a global match-making company to pair up underused land, buildings and farm equipment with prospective operators.
“ Soilshare.com provides
a convenient way for landowners to share their land, machinery, buildings and more with other farm and landowners as well as others who are searching for those resources,” said founder William Martin in a release.
The world’s first international land and resource trading company, Soilshare offers a searchable database of resources – equipment, buildings, land and even farm workers seeking employment. The system’s “partner-matching service” notifies members when a sharing opportunity matches their specific criteria.
Martin said the member-based service could appeal to existing or new farmers seeking land or equipment, farm workers seeking jobs, or landowners looking to lease out land for recreational uses.
