Two organizations which recognize contributions to Manitoba’s agricultural community are planning a gala reunion dinner this fall.

The dinner will honour past inductees to the Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame and past winners of the Farm Family of the Year award sponsored by the Red River Exhibition Association.

Organizers are inviting members of commodity and agri-business groups, as well as all interested individuals to attend. Morris Deveson, one of the organizers of the event, says the groups have been able to contact most of either the inductees/winners themselves or members of their families, and many will be represented at the dinner.

Shaky trade ground threatens efforts to build Canadian agriculture

Trade uncertainty is freezing billions in agriculture investment across Canada, which may threaten export-oriented Manitoba farms more than the tariffs spurring the uncertainty in the first place, experts tell Fields on Wheels conference.

“If anyone knows of any families who haven’t been contacted, please let us know.”

The dinner will be held Thursday, Oct. 21 at the Viscount Gort Hotel in Winnipeg, with a reception from 4 p. m. to 6 p. m. and dinner at 6:30.

Guest speaker will be Jerry Gray, dean emeritus and senior scholar at the Asper School of business, and chair of the board for the Friends of Upper Fort Garry.

Tickets are $100, of which a tax receipt will be issued for $50. The organizers are also offering sponsorships and group/corporate tables.
