Canadian financial close: C$ weakens Monday

Glacier FarmMedia — The Canadian dollar was weaker relative to its United States counterpart on Monday.

  • The Canadian dollar settled at US$0.7312 or US$1=C$1.3676, which compares with Friday’s close of US$0.7374 or US$1=C$1.3562.
  • Investors were taking some of the risk premium out of oil and other commodities as tensions between the U.S. and Iran eased over the weekend.
  • Gold was down by US$8.80 at US$4,736.30 per ounce.
  • West Texas Intermediate crude oil was down 4.48 per cent at US$62.29 per barrel.
  • The TSX Composite Index gained 235.93 points at 32,159.45 points.
